It gripped much better than I expected for something so small and lightweight. It's easy to toss in a bag and use just about anywhere, as long as you have a clean, flat surface.The base is made of black plastic with a smooth, rubber-like top that won’t scratch your phone. The neck and screw assembly are metal, while the silver knob that controls the suction is plastic. You just slide the knob to the "ON" position and the suction cup locks into place. It really does hold tight.That said, if you’re trying to use it on an uneven surface where the suction can’t stick, it may not stay upright. It can be a bit top-heavy and tip over easily with your phone attached. I think adding some weight to the base would help balance it better in those situations.The telescoping neck is adjustable, but it only moves up and down. It doesn’t swivel, which can limit your positioning just a little bit.The biggest issue for me was with the magnetic design. The product guide mentions 20 magnets, but they’re only placed around the outer edge of the top. To get a secure hold, you need to use the included metal ring unless your case magnet is the exact same size. That might work for some, but I already have a magnetic ring stand on my phone case, and it’s a different size. Because of that, my phone barely attaches, and only at the very top. I had hoped I could just place my phone on it as-is, like I’ve done with other magnetic stands.It’s frustrating because I really like the design and the portability, and I wanted it to work with my current setup. If the top had a solid magnetic surface instead of a ring of magnets, I think it would be much more versatile. I had high hopes for this one and was disappointed that I couldn’t use it the way I expected.Overall, it’s a well-made product with strong suction and a compact design, but the magnetic compatibility could be improved. If you plan to use the included metal ring, it may work just fine. But if you already have a magnetic phone case or stand, it might not hold the way you expect.

Just make sure to install it on a flat surface—since the car’s dashboard has many textured patterns, it’s best to clean the area first for better adhesion. The product itself is beautifully made, and the color is exactly what I like. (At first, I thought it was bright red, but it’s actually a deeper, more mature shade of red, which I prefer.) Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase and the whole shopping experience.
